Safeguarding
2. Online Safety & Digital Safeguarding
At SWANS, keeping children safe online is just as important as keeping them safe in the classroom. We teach children to use the internet and digital devices safely and responsibly, while making sure that safeguarding systems protect them from harm.
How We Keep Children Safe Online
- All school devices are monitored and filtered to block inappropriate content
- Staff are trained to spot and respond to online safety concerns
- Pupils learn how to recognise online risks, including cyberbullying, grooming, and inappropriate content
- Children are encouraged to tell a trusted adult if something online makes them feel uncomfortable
Online Safety Curriculum
Children are taught age-appropriate online safety lessons through:
- Computing lessons: digital literacy, privacy, and responsible online behaviour
- PSHE lessons: relationships, consent, and safe use of technology
- Assemblies: regular reminders about online safety
- Pupil support sessions: targeted guidance for vulnerable learners
Resources for Parents and Carers
We work with parents to support safe technology use at home. Recommended resources include:
Parents are encouraged to contact the school if they have concerns about their child’s online safety.
Child-Friendly Guidance
If something online worries you:
